It took me a while to get just the right lighting and exposure for these, and then even more time to get the timing just right but they turned out well!

Chess Board
I figured my chess set would make a great subject for some still-life photos. I actually really like how these turned out!
This is the first time that I went with the black background approach. In the background, I actually have a white backdrop. By keeping the shutter speed high and the strobe angled so it didn’t hit the backdrop, it actually appears to be black. I haven’t done this trick outdoors yet, but from my understanding you can actually do this in the middle of the daytime.

Liquid Still Life
Pouring water into wineglass
This is my favorite picture from the past few weeks. I was pouring water from about 8-12 inches up into a wineglass and this one just turned out so silky smooth while still retaining great sharpness in the action of the bubbles. The colors are inverted here, which made it much more interesting visually.
